We have obtained the first Android 4.3 test build firmware for the Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505G). We wanted to test out Android 4.3 but didn’t had the Google variant of the Galaxy S4 with us, so we ported it to our standard Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) and got some outstanding results.

Android 4.3 port from the Google Play Edition Galaxy S4 is fully functional on the standard Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505), there is not even a single thing which isn’t working. We haven’t made any changes to the port, so it’s 100% original with zero changes.

Google hasn’t made Android 4.3 public yet, but it’s good to know that OEMs already have access to the source code. Early access will result in quick software updates and less Android fragmentation. Keep in mind, Android 4.3 is still in development phases and does not have all the features which are yet to be implemented.

Galaxy s4 new fimware 4.3 update (GT I9505)

Earlier this week, Google announced the Google Play Edition of the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505G). Yesterday, we received a HUGE tip in our mailbox. So first of all, Special thanks to this secret tipper. The Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition is exactly the same device as the  standard Galaxy S4 at the hardware level. The big difference is of course Google’s own Android Interface! Today we proudly present you the first firmware for the Galaxy S4 Google Edition. With this firmware developers could create easy custom roms for the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505). Our firmware is completely STOCK which means we didn’t change anything! This firmware is based onAndroid 4.3! Google still needs to announce Android 4.3 but we expect this Android version to be unveiled by Google, soon. Android 4.3 is a minor update from Android 4.2.2.

Do NOT flash this firmware on your Galaxy S4!

Our advice is not to flash this firmware on your standard Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505/GT-I9500) as you might brick your device. Please check forums like xda-developers.com first. We tried to flash the firmware on our own Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505), but you simply can’t flash your Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) through odin as the bootloader won’t let you. This is the reason why we made a CUSTOM ROM for all GT-I9505 users. For now, this firmware is only a gift for developers!

samsung Galaxy S2 initially run android 2.3 Gingerbread then later updated with 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The latest update is android 4.1 Jelly Bean but you can update your Galaxy S2 with Android 4.2.2 firmware, along with Google Now and Project Butter, using Parandroid ROM.Parandroid for Galaxy S2 comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, including the complete features of the latest Android version and some additions which suits you. But before we proceed with the update guide, read the requirements and check if you have all the necessary things needed.
Requirements:
1. Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100, a computer and a USB cable.
2.      Create a backup of your personal information and data files. Do not use Samsung Kies to make backup files for this is a custom ROM.
4.      Your device must be rooted.
5.      Download the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Parandroid ROM and the Google Apps package.
Warning: This is a custom ROM running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and should only be installed to Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100. Developers will not be held responsible for any damages that may occur on your device. Do this at your own risk.
Instructions
1.      Connect your Galaxy S2 to the computer using a USB cable and copy the Parandroid 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and the Google Apps package inside your device.
2.      Switch off the device and reboot it into Recovery Mode. Press the Volume + Home + Power keys all at the same time and wait for the green Android to appear.
3.      Inside the Recovery mode, select "wipe data/factory reset."
4.      Then select "install zip from SD card" and choose the firmware file you have copied earlier.
5.      Select the ROM and confirm to install. Do the same with Google Apps package.
6.      After the installation, go back and select "reboot system now".
7.      Wait for the device to complete its loading which will take at least 5 minutes on the first time.
8.      Good job! Now your device runs Android 4.2.2 with Parandroid ROM. Go to Settings > About Phone to confirm the Android version.

Samsung has just started to roll out a new Software Update for the Galaxy S4. Galaxy S4′s (Exynos + Qualcomm) first batch of firmwares suffered from a lot of issues, and many people complained about these issues to Samsung and on various forums. Thankfully, the new software update brings a ton of improvements, enhancements and fixes over the initial firmwares of Samsung’s flagship device.
As you may know, the 16GB variant of the Galaxy S4 comes only with 9.15GB of user accessible memory in which the user installs all his/her apps. The new update addresses this issue by giving the user the functionality to move apps to SD card and increasing the available storage to 9.23GB. This should solve customers’ complain about low user accessible storage. This is one of the enhancements in the update, rest of them are listed below.

The update is 365.67 MB in size and you can update your device via Samsung KIES or via FOTA (Firmware-Over-The-Air). Samsung ROM on your Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

I have a lot of tutorials on how to install a custom ROM on the Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 on my YouTube Channel, however, in case you need to get back to the stock Samsung released Gingerbread firmware, follow this tutorial.


Caution: Please note that rooting/flashing your device voids your warranty and if done incorrectly may damage your device. Please do it at your own risk. The above method is suitable for Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 device only!

To install most of the official Samsung released firmware versions, you need to download and install the KPE version as base before you flash KPH or KPM say for example. Here's a video tutorial on how to install KPE as base if you need to know.

After you've successfully installed Gingerbread KPE as base, please download the stock firmware version of your choice from the list given below and install it using the following method.

Step1: Switch Off your device.
Step2: Get onto the Download Mode (Volume Down + Home + Power On key combination)
Step3: Connect the micro USB cable to the Phone/PC.
Step4: Open ODIN program on the PC. (Confirm connection through Yellow Box)
Step5: Hit the PDA box and browse and locate the downloaded stock firmware file.
Step6: Hit Start.
Step7: The phone will reboot and will restart with the stock ROM on it.

Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 Jelly Bean 4.2.2

If you're the owner of a Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 mobile phone, the bad news is that Samsung will not be updating it beyond Gingerbread 2.3.6 DDLF2 officially.

The Good news is, there are a lot of options to update it to Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean, though unofficially. Please note, updating this phone to CM9, CM10, or CM10.1 will void your warranty as these are unofficial ROMs. In this article we will update the phone to Jelly Bean ROM called CyanogenMod 10.1 Alpha 2.

Before proceeding, you need to check what firmware version is your phone currently running. You can check the firmware version from this path:

I suggest using XXKPE version as the base which you can download from the links mentioned below. Here's how to install KPE on your i9003 from any custom/stock ROM that your on.

What you would need:

• Your Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 (Don't try this ROM on any other phone)
• USB cable (to connect to you PC)
• Have the latest version of Samsung Kies (Only to have the latest USB drivers)
• Internet Connection
• Some Patience

Things to do before we start:

• Take a full backup of your phone on your computer. (Pictures/Videos/Contacts/Music etc)
• Disable all security suites installed in your computer.
• Enable USB debugging on your Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 from the path "Settings -- Applications -- Development -- USB Debugging. The check box next to it should be ticked.
• Disable all traces of Samsung Kies running on your computer from the task manager.

Step 1: Download the required ROM file and Google Apps files from the respective links mentioned below. 

At the point of writing this article, the current version available is Alpha 2. Please check the latest version from XDA Developers i9003 page before you download it.

Step 2: Root your phone. (Click here to see how to root your phone)

Step 3: Copy the downloaded Jelly Bean ROM and Gaaps files to your External micro SD card.
Step 4: Power Off your phone and reboot into the Recovery Mode by pressing the Volume Up key + Center Home key + Power Key for a few seconds!
Step 5: Wipe Data / Factory Reset.
Step 6: Select install zip from SD card, Choose Zip from SD card and select CM10.1 file.
Step 7: Wait for it to finish, repeat if needed.
Step 8: Repeat Step 6 with the Gaaps file that was downloaded earlier.
Step 9: Reboot

Congratulations, you have now successfully installed Jelly Bean/CyanogenMod 10.1 on your phone.
